A Seed of an Idea
Andrea attending workshops for comic creators at Comicpalooza 2019. She had a seed of an idea, but was sure the first go would probably suck, but the speaker said “Probably your first comic will suck, but you get better. I made a few books that sucked. You will never make what you have in your head perfectly.”
First Comic Release 2024
In 2024, the first comic book was finally completed. Shitty Science Fiction would set low expectations that could be exceeded to the right people. The name would deter those who would be offended. Pencil Face,LLC is created.
Another Comic Creator
Rodney has always drawn fun sketches that would be showcased nowhere and only shown to friends. Rodney released Applesauce in 2025 and has since made four books.

Applesauce, One-Off
We make indie, alternative, anthology funny books and zines. We each write and illustrate our own work, but we do act as editors for each other when developing our independent work. Shitty Science Fiction is created by Andrea Chinelliott. Applesauce & Other Adventures in Nonsense, and One-Off comics are created by Rodney Chinelliott.
Our books are weird, whimsical, and contain light profanity. Probably our books would not be approved by the Comics Code Authority because of some adult themes. Really I think the work would be enjoyed by teenagers and up, but parents do your due diligence and pre-read if you have concerns.
We are also members of the Houston Comics Scene.
